That is a direct result of the two factors that have developed over the last few years:  1) Near infrared spectroscopy (NIRS) technology, which measures muscle oxygen.  2) The technology's movement from the research phase to the pratical phase.  Juerg Feldmann of [FaCT Canada](http://www.fact-canada.com/) teamed up with Moxy Monitor in 2012 after spending much of his time researching NIRS and working with athletes.
